Welcome!

https://webdesign.cci.utk.edu/yoursite

The yoursite portion of the address will be provided by your instructor.

To log in go to:

https://webdesign.cci.utk.edu/yoursite/wp-admin
and click the blue “Sign in with your UT NetID” button.

You’ll see a UT Central Authentication Service page where you’ll enter your NetID and password.

After entering that you’ll see the WordPress Admin/Dashboard area.

You’re welcome to log in to your site at any time. Note, you cannot install themes or plugins on your site, but if you would like something installed that is not listed in the Appearance/Themes or Plugins menu for your site, it can be installed it for you.  Just email dgreene@utk.edu

Site Requirements

  1. The site will be based on the content and structure from your basic HTML and CSS site.
  2. Your site is set up with the GeneratePress theme. You can keep this theme and customize it (tutorial) or switch to another theme by going to Appearance / Themes in the WordPress Admin/Dashboard area. Your site is also set up with commenting functionally removed to prevent spam.
  3. Your site needs at least eight pages and consistent site navigation. By default, your site is set to display the latest posts, which are posts of some WordPress feature tutorials.  You will most likely want to change this to be a static front page (tutorial).
  4. The WordPress editor (Gutenberg (tutorial)) is based on arranging blocks. There are plugins that will add blocks to the editor, and one of those plugins,  Spectra – WordPress Gutenberg Blocks is installed and active on your site.
  5. Yoast SEO – Yoast SEO is not active by default. Active the plugin from your site’s plugins menu. Use this to conduct a SEO Analysis and Readability Analysis of your site. Save the first report, improve your site where you can, and re-run the analyses. Include both analyses in your assignment submission.

Further instructions on how to run and save the analyses with Yoast SEO – https://webdesign.cci.utk.edu/yoast-seo

  1. Equalize Digital Accessibility Checker Is installed on your site.  You don’t have to necessarily fix any accessibility issues this plugin finds; it might not be possible.  This functionality is for informational purposes only.
