The Scarlet Witch
Wanda Maximoff, better known as Scarlet Witch, was born in Sokovia alongside her twin brother, Pietro. The pair survived an explosion in their apartment which left them orphaned. Stuck in the rubble, another bomb dropped on them but did not explode, leaving them terrorized for days. Later on in life, the two volunteered to join Hydra’s genetic experimentation program to potentially receive powers. Wanda and Pietro ended up surviving the experiments and found themselves with a variety of supernatural abilities. Wanda eventually went on to use these abilities to help Ultron fight against Tony Stark. After discovering the true nature of Ultron’s plans, she decided to switch teams and align herself in the fight against him, leading to her becoming an Avenger.

Strengths
During Hydra’s experiments, Wanda was exposed to the Mind Stone from Loki’s Scepter, turning her into Scarlet Witch. This stone gave her many powerful abilities including telekinesis, energy manipulation, mind reading, mental manipulation among others. It is theorized that Scarlet Witch still has yet to reach her full potential.

Allies
As a member of the Avengers, Scarlet Witch joins forces with Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Iron Man and Hawkeye. Her brother, Pietro, unfortunately perishes in the battle against Ultron. Future members of the Avengers also become allies of hers, including Falcon, War Machine and Vision. With time, Wanda and Vision grow quite close, blossoming a romance between the two.

Enemies
Originally an ally, Wanda switches sides in the fight against Ultron, ultimately making him an enemy. As seen in Avengers: Infinity War, Wanda joins the fight against Thanos and his team, as he looks for the Infinity Stones. Finally, in Wandavision, Wanda’s main enemy is Agatha Harkness, an opposing witch.
